The articles, practices and sessions offered on this site are wellness education. Please read this page before trying any of the exercises described here.
Not medical or psychological advice
Nothing on this site is medical, psychological or psychiatric advice, diagnosis or treatment. The practices described, including TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises), are not a replacement for care from a doctor, psychologist or other qualified health professional, although they can sometimes be used alongside that care. Never stop or change a treatment because of something you have read here.
Check with a professional first
Talk to your doctor or therapist before trying body-based exercises if you:
- have a medical condition, an injury, or recent surgery;
- are pregnant;
- have a history of seizures or a heart condition;
- live with a mental health condition, or are currently receiving treatment for one;
- find that strong emotions or memories easily overwhelm you.
Listen to your body
Body-based practices can bring up physical sensations, emotions or memories. Go slowly, stay within what feels manageable, and stop at any time. If an exercise leaves you feeling worse, dizzy, in pain or overwhelmed, stop and seek support. Everyone responds differently, and no particular result is promised.
In a crisis
If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself, or need urgent medical help, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line straight away. This site and its sessions are not an emergency service.
